Who Is The Best Cell Phone ProviderCell phones are everywhere. We take them to work, to bed, to the grocery store and even to the movies (where hopefully we all put them on silent). Geographically speaking, cell phones are used at almost every corner of the world. Towers to provide cell service to new locations go up every day, and in turn new providers are also popping up.

But when we look at cell phone carriers, coverage is only one aspect of their service that we think about. We also want a fair price, good customer service, and the newest and best technology to choose from. Surprisingly, the big carriers are not the only providers who excel in these areas. In a recent review done by toptenreviews.com, minute details were broken down and rated, with everything from single line cost to Android phone selection coming up. Here we’d like to discuss what most important items we felt were researched, and which companies scored the best in them.

Cost

With their fees being similar to the other major carriers like Verizon and AT&T, Sprint came out on top for value and pricing. They give unlimited data, talk and text for a single line for only $60 a month, and they have excellent choices in phones. In contrast, their coverage ratings were low, along with their customer service score. One of the most expensive carriers, Verizon, rated poorly on cost, but very high on device selection and customer service.

Features

Again Sprint comes out on top with plan features and phone selection. They have all of the newest technology from Apple and Android, and even have an early termination program, phone payment plans, and one of the cheaper prepaid phone plans.Consumer cellular had the lowest ratings in phone selection and feature plans, but have the least expensive prepaid plan at $20 per month.

Coverage

The best carrier when it comes to cell coverage and quality was AT&T. Verizon is comparable to AT&T in coverage, but when it comes to speed AT&T wins out. So if you’re looking for a phone that works in most geographic areas and has extremely fast speed, AT&T is the way to go. If you’re in need of a good prepaid phone with great coverage, try Consumer Cellular, they work off AT&T towers.

Product Selection

When it comes to choosing a phone, the big carriers have the most selection available. Whether it be brands such as Android, Apple or Blackberry or devices such as phones, tablets, or hot-spots, Verizon, Sprint and AT&T have you covered. Looking for something a bit less pricey but still want a high tech gadget, go with Ting. They have good phone selections and decent plan pricing.

Customer Service

Verizon’s customer service scored the highest out of the three major carriers, while Consumer Cellular and Ting scored just as high. Sprint scored surprisingly low, with a 45% compared to Verizon’s 100%. T-Mobil scored an 80%, which in comparison to Sprint and AT&T is relatively high.

Whichever carrier you choose, there will of course be pros and cons. We suggest starting with your top priority, and compare providers who rate highest in that. If you’re concerned about coverage, you might want to compare AT&T and Verizon. If cost is your main priority, take a look at Boost Mobile and Ting. No matter what you’re looking to get out of your cell phone provider, we think checking out this review will help, and will get you started on making an informed and fact-based decision.
